Smoother traffic and happier guests with Flow

Jostein Rajala

General Manager @ Comfort Hotel Arlanda Airport

Comfort Hotel Arlanda Airport digitalised its parking operations with Pair Flow – and finally got a system that works the way the hotel itself does: fast, flexible, and without unnecessary hassle.

It’s early morning at Arlanda. The sun has yet to rise. Transfer buses, taxis and hotel guests move in a steady rhythm outside Comfort Hotel. Beneath the ground, in the large car park, another well-coordinated flow is taking place, but without staff. Here, cameras and software keep everything in order.

“Above all, we’re saving an enormous amount of time and resources,” says Jostein Rajala, General Manager at Comfort Hotel Arlanda Airport.

“Both drop-in and pre-booked parking are now handled completely automatically. Guests receive a link or QR code, and then manage everything themselves through Pair.”

From manual routines to complete overview

Previously, the hotel used another camera-based parking solution, but it lacked certain functions that were essential for hotel operations – and there was no option to adapt the system to the hotel’s needs.

Drop-in parking was registered automatically, but it was difficult to get a clear overview of which vehicles were parked, for how long, and how payments were distributed.

“We received a lump sum at the end of the month and had no easy way to verify the details,” Jostein explains.

Another challenge was that the system had no booking function at all. The staff had to manage every booking manually via email or phone, enter it into Google Sheets, and then again into the parking system. Payments were handled separately through the hotel’s system.

“It was extremely resource-intensive for every single booking – lots of manual work and plenty of room for errors.”

Developed in close collaboration with the hotel

When Pair entered the picture, the work started from the ground up – together.

“The collaboration worked well right from the start. Pair has been incredibly responsive and adapted the system to our needs. Changes were made immediately, so we could test and see what worked. Naturally, there were things that didn’t work perfectly at first, but they were fixed quickly through direct contact with the developers,” says Jostein.

The new solution, Pair Flow, combines camera-based licence plate recognition (ANPR) with digital booking and payment – all in one system. For guests, it means no tickets, no waiting, just smooth parking.

For the hotel, it provides full real-time control of the car park: which cars are parked, how long they’ve stayed, and when they leave.

“We’ve gained a completely new level of insight and control. We can now easily send guests a booking link or information about how drop-in parking works. Then they handle everything themselves through Pair,” says Jostein.

Measurable results and happier guests

Since the launch, Comfort Hotel Arlanda has increased its parking revenue by an estimated 10–15%.

“Yes, we’ve definitely increased our revenue – mainly thanks to better oversight and the ability to rent out more drive-through spaces,” Jostein notes.

At the same time, the number of errors, manual tasks and support issues has dropped significantly. Guests avoid hassle on arrival and departure, and staff can focus on what matters most – delivering great service.

A system built for hotels

Pair Flow is the result of several years of close collaboration between Pair and hotel chains across the Nordics. The system is designed around how hotels actually operate – with guests who book rooms, park spontaneously, and often return.

For Jostein and his team at Arlanda, the difference is clear:“The previous system wasn’t really designed for hotel operations. Now we have one that’s been developed with the hotel at its centre.”
